Sports Globe (February 3, 1999)

Successful start: Predrag Stojakovic

The Yugoslav basketball aces Vlade Divac and Predrag Stojakovic were the most meritorious for the victory of Sacramento Kings in the preparatory match against Golden State 89-85. Divac scored 20 points and had seven rebounds whereas young Stojakovic scored 15 points and had nine rebounds.

As for the first impressions in the new club, Divac said:

· Coach Adelman promised me the playmaker's role, he wants to take advantage of my experience and gift for assisting in the right time. He set the game that way, lots of things go through me, and the boys are obeying. No doubt, I am satisfied how it works, I got the role which suits me best.

The best Yugoslav basketball player is also satisfied with the playing of Predrag Stojakovic. Speaking about the qualities of this player, Divac estimates that Stojakovic has an accurate shot, excellent motion in attack, lots of self-confidence and positive pertinence, necessary for playing in NBA. Divac thinks that Stojakovic, as well as all Europeans, is a little bit weaker in defence, but hopes that the talented Yugoslav basketball player will compensate this by hard training.

Miroslav Beric with trophy

Basketball players of Tau Ceramica won the Spanish "Copa del Rey" (King's Cup) since they beat San Fernando in the finals 70-61 (28-32).

The winner of the final game was decided between 25th and 35th minute. Playing more aggressively in defence, the Basque team made a series of 22-4 and deserved to win the worthy trophy.

The most meritorious for the Tau Ceramica's victory was Italian Ruskoni who was the best under the baskets and Yugoslav national team player Miroslav Beric. Beric scored 19 points and was the most efficient in the winner's team and also had four assists.
