Vienna, Austria, September 11, 1999 - Yugoslav men's national volleyball team failed to qualify for the finals of the 21st European Men's Volleyball Championship, after having bean beaten by Italy 1-3 (17-25, 22-25, 26-24, 22-25).
The Italian players started the game powerfully and took the lead of 2-0 announcing the final victory. However, the Yugoslav team which played most of the game under their capabilities, managed to win the third set and return to the game.
In the forth and the most exciting set, the Yugoslav players were in the lead most of the time, but in the final phase of the set, the Italians had better concentration and won the set 25-22, thus qualifying for the finals.
