French Montpellier recorded a 2-2 draw against FC Red Star in a thrilling match to proceed to the next round of the UEFA Cup due to their 1-0 away victory in the first leg - held in Sofia - a fortnight ago.

The hosts went straight on the attack and the visitors were forced to defend in numbers during the first ten minutes.

Red Star gradually worked their way back into the match and seemed to have things under control, only to concede the opening goal of Ouedec in 34th minute.

The second half had a sizzling start, as in the 48th minute, Jelic threw the guests a lifeline when he scored. However, Montpellier's answer to the unexpected equaliser was a Loko's goal in 51st minute.

But further drama was to follow as Montpellier keeper Cassard only three minutes later pulled down Pjanovic in the box and Boskovic duly scored from the spot. The visitors continued to press forward but the French kept their cool to secure their progress to the next round.
