Hamamacu, Japan, November 24, 1998 - In the fifth round of the quarter final group H, the Yugoslav national team defeated the current Olympic champions and European champions Holland 3-0 (15-9, 15-4, 15-13).
The best Yugoslav volleyball players continue with excellent games on the World Volleyball Championship in Japan. They defeated Holland which was one of the favorites for the golden medal. The Olympic and European champion was helpless in the match with motivated and excellent Yugoslav team.
More serious resistance of the Dutch team was in the third set, but the "blue machine" was too strong. The balance in the game was given by the excellent serves of the Yugoslav national team.
With this victory, the Yugoslav team acquired excellent chances to win in its group and continue to fight for the medal.
The next match, the Yugoslav team plays against Italy on November 25.
