Vlade Divac (left, Kings) recorded 17 points against Magic

Sacramento Kings defeated host Orlando Magic 111-102 and with 10 wins in 12 games still keep the top spot both in their conference and in the NBA league. Sacramento guard Cris Webber had 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Kings' center Vlade Divac added 17 points, five rebounds, four assists and two blocks for 34 minutes. Their team-mate Predrag Stojakovic scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds for 24 minutes.

Jovan Stankovic

Yugoslav international Jovan Stankovic was a key player in a Mallorca's 3-2 victory over Barcelona in the derby of the 13th round of the Spanish football league. Stankovic set up the first Mallorca's goal in the 32nd minute. Ten minutes later he netted a free-kick for a 2-1 lead. Tristan scored the third goal for Mallorca from the penalty spot, after Stankovic was brought down inside the box.

Zaragoza only drew 1-1 at home with Valladolid, failing to go closer to the top of the league. Yugoslav Savo Milosevic was the only scorer for the host team.

Deserved triumph of Italian Lazio in its UEFA Champions' League Group D match against Olympique in Marseille - 2-0. Yugoslav player Dejan Stankovic opened the scoring in 67th minute when he headed firmly into the far corner after the crossing at the far post.

Player of the UEFA Champions' League Group A match between Sparta Prague and Porto Lisbon was another Yugoslav player Ljubinko Drulovic. Although he entered the game in the 73rd minute, 17 minutes were enough for him to score the first goal and set up the second one for the final Porto's victory in Prague - 2:0.

Dejan Bodiroga

Yugoslav basketball players received the largest number of votes for the European "All Stars" match between the East and the West, organized by FIBA in Moscow. After counting the votes from 27 European countries, Dejan Bodiroga, playing for Greek Panathinaikos, took the first place, his team colleague Zeljko Rebraca the second, and Predrag Danilovic the third. Apart from them, high positions were also taken by Aleksandar Djordjevic (16th at the final list) and Dragan Tarlac (19th). It is interesting that Sasa Obradovic, who has been injured since the European Championship in France, took the high sixth position in the team of East.




Eminent sports weekly "France Football" announced the names of 50 football players in the close choice for the "Golden Ball" intended for the best football player in the "Old Continent". There is only one Yugoslav player at the list of nominated, Sinisa Mihajlovic player of Roman Lazio. According to the experts, Mihajlovic is one of the favorites for the triumph in this traditional voting.
