Close to triple-double: Aleksandar Djordjevic (Real Madrid)

In the derby of the Spanish basketball league Barcelona beat Real Madrid 66-61 and now has two wins ahead of its ancient rival and three wins behind of the leading team Pamesa. Milan Gurovic scored 6 points and grabbed 3 rebounds in 18 minutes for Barcelona. Real's playmaker Aleksandar Djordjevic was close to triple-double, adding 15 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists.

In the another great derby this weakend in Europe, Panathinaikos surprisingly lost its first match this season after 20 successive wins in Greek basketball championship and Euroleague - Panathinaikos - Olympiakos 68-69. Yugoslav Dejan Bodiroga was the best scorer for defeated team with 24 points (2 3PFG), while Zeljko Rebraca had 7 points. Robinson (20) and Tomic (17) made 37 of his team's 69 points. Panathinaikos keeps the top spot of the standings, but now it is ahead of AEK and PAOK only on points difference.

Lazio beat Fiorentina 2-0 at Olympic stadium in Rome and, after three ties (Milano, Inter, Juventus) and one defeat (Roma), finally recorded three points in a derby this season. Yugoslav Dejan Stankovic clinched the game in the 71st minute when he headed home after curling Mihajlovic's cross from the right side. It was Stankovic's third goal in the last five games in Italian football championship.


Ljubinko Drulovic's glorious solo goal with 11 minutes left was enough to give FC Porto the second successive win in UEFA Champions League Group B clash - FC Porto - Hertha Berlin 1-0. Yugoslav international picked up possession in his own half after a failed Hertha corner, went into the German box and then turned the ball past goalkeeper Kiraly.

Despite a 1-2 defeat against Greek Olympiakos, "host" Juventus managed to qualify for the 4th round of UEFA Cup with a 4-3 aggegate victory. The key players both from Juventus and Olympiakos were Yugoslavs.

Playing in Palermo, Sicily, where they have strong fan base, team from Turin took the lead in the second minute when Yugoslav striker Darko Kovacevic found the target - his 10th goal in European competition this season. Seven minutes before the break another Yugoslav player Predrag Djordjevic equalised with a beautiful left-footed shot. Juventus Paolo Montero brought down Djordjevic 8 minutes left and the latter scored his and his team's second goal from penalty. Despite intense pressure in the final minutes Olympiakos were unable to find a goal to take the game into extra time and had to say farewell to the UEFA Cup.
