Katowice, Poland, January 7th - The men's Yugoslav national volleyball team easily won the match against Latvia by 3-0 (25-11, 25-23, 25-15), as it was expected. With this triumph the Yugoslavs secured their place in the finals, where they would play against Bulgaria or Poland. The Netherlands national team, the Olympic champion from Atlanta, by loosing to Poland (1-3) in the fourth round, lost all chances of reaching the first two positions, and it will seek its chance to go to Sidney in the next qualifying tournament.
Aside from the second set, when a certain amount of suspense took place in its end, the Yugoslav volleyball team did not have much difficulty in making an unmistakable victory. Even though the Yugoslav team's coach Vukovic gave an opportunity to the players from the bench to play in the second and third set, the balance of power in the field remained unchanged.
The Yugoslav national team will play against Poland on January 8th.
