Lausanne, Switzerland, March 5 - Drawing lots determined that the Yugoslav men's handball team would play at the Olympic games in Sydney in Group A, along with national teams of Russia, Germany, Egypt, Cuba and South Korea.
Russia was triple Olympic and world champion and won once a gold medal at the European champion. Russia is a runner-up of the latest European and World Champioships.
The Germans won only one medal at international competitions - bronze medal at the European championship. In the last match versus Germany, at the World Championship in Egypt, the Yugoslav team celebrated the victory.
The Cubans are for years untouchable at the American continent. The team of South Korea plays the best handball in Asia, and unpleasantly surprised Yugoslavia at the quarterfinals of the World Championship in Japan. The Egyptians play aggressive and they will be unpleasant rival, especially since the coach of Egypt is former coach of Yugoslav national team Zoran Zivkovic.
