Eleven attempts - nine medals

According to won gold medals (four) at the world basketball championships, Yugoslavia is the best team, before the USA and the Soviet Union, which have three gold medals.

The Yugoslavs didn't take part only at two world championships. The first time in 1959, and the second time in 1994, because of sanctions.

In eleven world championships, the Yugoslav players scored nine medals - four gold, three silver and two bronze medals.

The most impressive result was scored in Manila in 1978, when the Yugoslav team won gold medal, winning all matches, with an average of 103,3 per game. At that championship, the best Yugoslav scorers were Drazen Dalipagic (200 points), Dragan Kicanovic (164) and Ratko Radovanovic (120).
