Yugoslavia qualifies for the European Women's Handball Championships

Yugoslav women's handball national team qualified for the European Championship after beating host Netherlands 26-24 (15-12) in the play-offs second-leg match. In the first-leg match in Podgorica, a week ago, Yugoslavia and Netherlands drew 28-28.

Yugoslavia was better opponent in the first half, but from 35th to 44th minute failed to score, allowing Netherlands to come back and made a 17-16 lead in the 39th minute. Key moment of the match happened in the 50th minute when Mira Celebic entered the game and with several successful actions led her team to the great triumph.

Sent-off: Milorad Milatovic, Yugoslavia's coach in the 45th minute.

YUGOSLAVIA: Jovanovic (10 saves), Paplacko, Medved 9 (5), Celebic 2, Savic 1, Petrovic 8 (3), Selmanovic, Milickovic, Jovovic 4, Jerominok 1, Damjanac 1, Krasnic (saved three penalties).

RESULTS: 2-2 (6th minute), 6-6 (14), 7-9 (20), 10-13 (25), 13-17 (35), 16-17 (39), 17-17 (41), 17-20 (49), 19-22 (53), 20-24 (56), 22-25 (59).
