Red Star's 18th triumph in the Cup

Triumph in the Cup for the 18th time: Red Star Belgrade

Belgrade, May 10 - Red Star Belgrade beat second disivion Napredak Krusevac 4-0 to win the Yugoslav football Cup for the second successive season.

Red Star dominated the game, attacking in waves and creating at least ten chances.

GOALS

1-0 (13th minute) - Red Star earned a penalty when Atanaskovic brought down Boskovic in the Napredak's area. Mihailo Pjanovic fired the Yugoslav league leaders in front from the penalty spot.

2-0 (38th minute) - Right back Ivan Dudic delivered a perfect cross into the box and Pjanovic doubled Red Star's lead with an unstoppable diving header.

3-0 (55th minute) - Dejan Ilic finished off a superb solo run with a low shot inside the near post in the 55th minute.

4-0 (58th minute) - Ivan Vukomanovic completed the rout with a powerful header after a well-taken corner kick from Boskovic.

  • On its road to the 18th trophy in Yugoslav Cup, Red Star received no goal: Bor 3-0, Sartid 3-0, Radnicki (K) 1-0, Milicionar 3-0, Napredak 4-0.

  • In the last eleven years, Red Star won even seven times Yugoslav Cup.

  • Till now, 52 final games of the Yugoslav football Cup were played. Red Star was the finalist even 26 times.
