Red Star champion for the 21st time

By the triumph of Belgrade team Red Star, 71st Yugoslav Football Championship was finished, and was marked by records.

There were never so many teams competing in the First league - 22 (including Pristina which gave up before the Championship began).

Red Star and Partizan were the first teams in history who scored three-figured number of points and, since the number of First league teams is diminished, it is hard to believe that these records would be beaten.

Red Star also realized the longest row of victories in the history of the Championship - in the last 17 rounds, the new champion had all 17 victories. Partizan held record so far with 15 victories in a row in 1991/92 season.

Partizan is the most efficient club of all times, scoring in the just-finished Championship as many as 111 goals. However, in the 1999/2000 season Red Star had the toughest defense in the history of Yugoslav Championship, since it received at the average 0.48 goals per match, by which Partizan`s record (0.54) from the season 1991/92 was beaten.
