Belgrade, June 3rd - In the play-off first leg match of the European qualifications for the World men's handball championship in France 2001, Yugoslavia defeated Denmark 26-22 (13-10), tonight in Belgrade.
The Yugoslavs had many mistakes in their attack, while in defense they were too static. Young players of Denmark's national team showed great eagerness. They did not give up even when the host led with 18-13 in the second half, but with their aggressive play they managed to secure relatively fair score before the second-leg match, on June 10th in Copenhagen.
