Nedeljko Jovanovic (YUG) is tackled by German players

Yugoslavia was defeated by Germany 22-28 (11-13) in their men's preliminary match in handball.

Florian Kehrmann scored seven goals and Frank von Behren and Volker Zerbe had six each as Germany beat Yugoslavia to take over second place in Group A. Aleksandar-Aco Knezevic scored five times for Yugoslavia.

Yugoslav members of shooting national team, Aleksandra Ivosev and Aranka Binder did not manage to qualify for the finals of the Olympic tournament in women's 50m riffle (3 positions).

Aleksandra Ivosev won the 22nd place with 573 rounds, while Aranka Binder shares 23rd place with 572 rounds.

Yugoslav swimmers Milos Cerovic and Djordje Filipovic achieved very bad scores in the men's 100m backstroke finals, i.e. men's 200m individual medley, and were eliminated in the preliminary rounds of the Olympic competition.

Cerovic won the fifth place, next to last place in the first preliminary round, with time of 2:09.07 minutes, and achieved the 43rd score in the competition of 44 competitors.

In the men's 200m individual medley, Filipovic won the 3rd place, in the first heat, with 2:09.58 minutes, and won the 49th place in the competition of 56 swimmers.

Yugoslav table tennis player Slobodan Grujic did not manage to qualify for the round of 32 in men single, since he has been defeated today by Lee Chul-Seung, representative from South Korea, with 21-11, 21-19, 15-21, 14-21, 21-17.

Table-tennis players, Slobodan Grujic and Ilije Lupulesku, failed to advance to the men's doubles quarter-finals, as they were defeated by Kim Taek-soo/Oh Sang-eun (South Korea) 21-18, 21-18, 21-13.
