Yugoslav women's national handball team made a successful start at the European Championship which is being held in Romania from December 8 to 17.
The Hungarian team, which took the silver medal at the Sidney Olympic Games, made a 12-8 lead in the 18th minute. However, the Yugoslav players first managed to score draw, and then even to take a three goals lead - 21-18. The opponent got back into the game and reached a 33-32 lead 30 seconds before the end of the match, but Sanja Jovovic scored a goal in the very last moments thus bringing one point to the Yugoslav national team.
