YUGOSLAVIA - France 20-22

Dragan Skrbic (YUGOSLAVIA)

Nantes, FRANCE, January 27 - Deserving victory of the hosts of the World Championship. Skillful and quick Richardson conducted the performance of the team who led throughout the match.

The victory of the French was not questionable, since they took the lead for several times even of 7 goals (9-2, 20-13 and 22-15). The Yugoslavs managed to alleviate the defeat, but that was mostly the result of the relaxing of the French national team players.

QUOTES

"We started the game with many mistakes. The defence was static, attack without a solution to their aggressive defence, and all that resulted in a great lead for the host". (Branislav Pokrajac, Yugoslavia's coach).

"We lost the game in the very first ten minutes of the match. We let the rivals impose their own tempo and take the convincing lead, which we had to try to catch up. We also had many mistakes, and something like that can not be excusable on a game like this". (Dragan Skrbic, captain of the Yugoslav national team)
