Djordjevic to miss Eurobasket 2001

Aleksandar Djordjevic

Belgrade, March 7 (telebasket.com/agencies) - Svetislav Pesic, coach of the Yugoslav men's national basketbal team, announced at the press conference that Alexandar Djordjevic would not play at the European championship in Turkey.

"He told me that he couldn't play all year without resting. I would like to have Djordjevic in the team but it is too hard for him to play for his club and after that for the national team", said Pesic.

"Rebraca is also problematic. Before the Sydney Olympics he said that he would like to stay out of the team at Eurobasket 2001. He wants one year for vacation. And he wants to go to the NBA this year, too. I told him that he was one of the main players in our program for the next four years and we agreed to have a new appointment after the end of the season.

On the other side, Vlade Divac and Dejan Bodiroga said that they wanted to play in Turkey.

"He said to me 'coach don't waist time on me, you know that I will be there, talk with other guys'", said Pesic, impressed by Bodiroga's motivation.
