Nobanda and Pomacu winners of Belgrade marathon
Belgrade, Yugoslavia, April 21 (AP) - Mluleki Nobanda of South Africa braved heavy rain to win the 14th Belgrade Marathon Saturday, beating Jimmy Muindi of Kenya and Sylvestor Moleko of South Africa.
Nobanda, a 33-year-old police sergeant, finished in 2 hours, 15 minutes, 11 seconds. Muindi, last year's Honolulu Marathon winner, was eight seconds back, and Moleko ran 2:15:28.
Christina Pomacu of Romania was the women's winner at 2:29:44,
breaking the course record of 2:30:56.
Iaroslav Musinschi of Moldova won the half-marathon race at 1:07:01 and Ebru Kavaklioglu of Turkey was the women's winner at 1:14:48.
Mira Preradovic, a 13-year-old Yugoslav, finished third in the women's half-marathon at 1:16:23.
