Belgrade, May 27 (agencies) - Yugoslavia's new management team of Vujadin Boskov, Dejan Savicevic and Ivan Curkovic named Fiorentina striker Predrag Mijatovic in the squad to face Russia and the Faroe Islands in next week's World Cup qualifiers.
Mijatovic retired from international football in April after being left out of the starting line-up for Yugoslavia's last World Cup qualifier against Russia, claiming that then-coach Milovan Djoric had gone back on a promise to play him.
The trio has not looked completely to the past, though, naming three previously uncapped players in the squad - Dragoljub Jeremic of Partizan, Ivan Gvozdenovic of Red Star and Boban Dmitrovic of Austrian GAK.
Dragan Stojkovic has not been called up, but that is his own decision.
"There's a break in the Japanese championship at the moment, so he decided that he wasn't ready to play," Savicevic explained.
Savicevic also revealed that Mladen Krstajic, Dejan Stefanovic, Igor Duljaj and Darko Kovacevic would have been called up had it not been for injuries, while Predrag Djordjevic and Slavisa Jokanovic only missed out because of suspension.
