After the match
"Both teams started the game in the same style. Hungary however, was under some kind of difficult pressure. Hungary can play much better than they did tonight, and I think that they will only be better because of this loss tonight. I think they are still the favourites and I hope to play them again later in the Championships" (Nenad Manojlovic, Yugoslavia's head coach).
"We played especially good in the man-down situations. I personally do not like this kind of refereeing. I believe Yugoslavia can win the Championships. In the final it might be a re-match of what happened tonight" (Aleksandar Sostar, Yugoslavia's goalkeeper).
"Perhaps the people thought we were invincible, but deep down we knew that we were not. We knew that the Yugoslavians were a very good team. We deserved to lose, there is no question about that. It was interesting to see that the Yugoslavians celebrated like they won the Championships. Maybe we will profit from this later on" (Tamas Kasas, Hungarian player).
"There were many individual mistakes and the team never really
came together. All I can say is that I would like to thank the crowd for being behind us even after such a performance, and that we will do our best against the Dutch tomorrow" (Gergely Kiss, Hungarian player).
