Smederevo, YUGOSLAVIA, June 23 (uefa.com) - FK Sartid produced an impressive attacking display to beat Scottish side Dundee FC 5-2 (first leg match: 0-0)and go through to the second round of the UEFA Intertoto Cup to face TSV 1860 München. The 16,000 fans at FK Sartid stadium in Smederevo were treated to a frantic first half with three
goals in 21 minutes.
The home crowd were stunned early
on when Argentinian striker Juan Sara
and Gavin Rae combined to find
Fabian Caballero and the forward had
no problem scoring from close in.
Sartid looked nervous in their first
European game at home but were
given hope on 18 minutes when Sasa
Antunovic was brought down by
Dundee goalkeeper Jamie Langfield and Vladimir Mudrinic
scored from the spot.
The hosts were in front three minutes later when Mudrinic
converted his second penalty of the afternoon after
Christopher Coyne was adjudged to have handled. Sartid,
their confidence boosted, gained the initiative and Srdjan
Aleksic rose to head in their third goal from a corner in the
37th minute. Sartid could have gone three clear moments
later, but the otherwise impressive Antunovic missed when
scoring seemed easier.
Dundee were determined to make Sartid work for their win
and put pressure on the home team when Sara scored with a
powerful header from a Caballero cross with 30 minutes
remaining. Ivano Bonetti's side fought courageously, but
suffered a set-back in the 77th minute when Caballero was
red-carded for an off-the-ball incident.
And the home side took advantage by scoring two late goals
to seal the tie. First, substitute Demir Ramovic accepted a
pass from captain Goran
Bogdanovic and cracked home from 12 metres, then Ivan
Krizmanic made it 5-2.
"There is a long way to the UEFA Cup and I just hope that
we will play like we did today in every game," Sartid captain
Bogdanovic said after the game. "I also want to thank the
crowd."
Demir Ramovic added: "It was a difficult game. We were 1-0
down and it was hard for the players and the crowd. But we
managed to relax after we went 3-1 up."
