Zaragoza, SPAIN, July 9 (Reuters) - Yugoslav international
striker Goran Drulic completed a 2,150 million peseta ($10.92
million) move from Red Star Belgrade to Real Zaragoza on Monday,
becoming the most expensive recruit in the Spanish club's
history.
"I am conscious of what the club has paid and feel a great
responsibility as a result of the move," said the 24-year-old
centre forward after signing a four-year contract with the
King's Cup winners.
"I hope that it will not weigh heavily on me when I come to
run out on the pitch and I know that I will do everything I can
to return the club's confidence in me," he added.
Drulic will be following in the footsteps of compatriot Savo
Milosevic, who scored 21 goals in his last season at the club
before moving to Italy's Parma for $22.8 million 12 months ago.
"I play in the same position as Milosevic and I only hope
that I can enjoy the same success as he did," Drulic said.
Club president Alfonso Solans said the signing of Drulic was
"just what the club needed and just what the fans were
demanding."
Zaragoza had a disappointing season in the league, finishing
in 17th position and avoiding relegation by just a point.
The Aragonese team, however, ended the campaign on a high by
pulling off a surprise 3-1 victory over favourites Celta Vigo in
the King's Cup final to earn a place in next season's UEFA Cup.
Txetxu Rojo, formerly with Athletic Bilbao, was unveiled as
Zaragoza's new coach last week.
