New York, USA, September 3 (Reuters) - Top seed Martina Hingis lost the first three games but came roaring back to beat 14th seed Jelena Dokic of Yugoslavia 6-4; 6-0 on Sunday to reach the quarter-finals of the U.S. Open.
Swiss Hingis was broken in the second game and fell behind 0-3 in the opening set before regaining control of the baseline duel.
The 20-year-old world number one benefited from Dokic's over-eagerness against her weak second serve.
Hingis won more points from her second serve than from her first, 67 percent against 60 percent, as Dokic over-hit on the second offerings in the hope of driving
home winners.
The top seed coaxed a total of 36 errors from 18-year-old Dokic, who upset Hingis in the first round at Wimbledon in 1999 on her way to the last eight of the
championship.
