YUGOSLAVIA - Russia 3-0

Ostrava, CZECH REPUBLIC, September 15 - Clash between two best teams at the Sydney Olympic Games ended after seventy minutes. Yugoslavs played their best game so far, much better than against Italy. They outplayed Russia in all aspects of the game, especially in blocking despite their height - Russians are the tallest in Europe and they have Kazakov whose 217 cm are frightening for the opposition. Yugoslavia had the lead all the time.

Olympic gold medallists made very little mistakes and that was the reason for easy win in the first set. In the second game period it was much easier for them. Russians were in lead until 2-3 and that was all. After 20 minutes Yugoslavia celebrates with convincing 25-17. After 7-0 and 8-1 at the beginning of the third set it was all over for almost every single spectator in the hall, but not for Russians. They've started to play with better serve and managed to level the score before the end - 23-23. Yugoslavia had five match points and they took the last one thanks to Vujevic's serve with a little help by net.
