Filipovic is new Red Star's coach

Belgrade, October 5 - Former Yugoslavia assistant manager Zoran Filipovic has been presented as the new coach of Red Star Belgrade following the resignation of Slavoljub Muslin.

His assistent will be Bosko Djurovski and Dusan Savic has been named sports director.

Filipovic went into coaching at Boavista in 1986, before surprising Portuguese football by leading Salgueiros into the Uefa Cup in 1991. He then joined Vitoria Guimaraes, but could not live up to their high expectations and quit in 1994.

He also coached at Panionios in Greece before returning to Yugoslavia to take up a coaching role with the national side.

As a player, Filipovic shone for Red Star and Benfica, with whom he won the league and Cup in the mid-Eighties as well as playing in the 1983 Uefa Cup final.
