Nagoya, JAPAN, November 23 (fivb.ch) - Olympic champion Yugoslavia came back from one set down to win a close game against wild card Argentina by 3-1 (22-25, 25-21,25-11, 25-18).
Yugoslavia's title hope had been greatly damped after Cuba edging off Brazil 3-2 in the previous game.
The Sydney Olympic gold medallists looked quite upset when entering the game, surrendering to the young Argentina by 22-25.
Although the European champions managed to tie it 1-1 with a 25-21 win in the second set, they gave no signal of recovery from the disappointment as they made as many errors as they can.
It was the experience that secured the victory for the star-studded Yugoslavian squad while the underdogs Argentineans showed the potentials to challenge the world elite.
The South Americans refused to bestow the win easily to Yugoslavia, fighting more aggressively in the fourth set when they were down 1-2. Yugoslavia could not broke away from the deadlock until after 14-14.
