PSV Eindhoven, the Dutch defending football champions outplayed league leaders Ajax 3-1. PSV remain unbeaten in the Arena, in fact their record now reads ten victories and one draw. Guests found themselves holding a 2-0 lead almost immediately. Chaos erupted in the Ajax defence after a corner and despite three defenders standing on the line, Yugoslav Mateja Kezman, who was PSV's danger man throughout had little difficulty slotting the ball home from close range. On thirteen minutes Lucius blasted the ball into the right top corner from the edge of the area.

On 77 minutes substitute Rommedahl gave PSV a third goal. He picked up the ball on the left side of the area and slotted it past Grim. Ten minutes later Ajax got a deserved consolation from penalty. Bergdolmo slotted the ball past Waterreus but it was clearly too late to have had any impact on the outcome of the game.
