Dokic and Sostar best athletes

Belgrade, December 17 - Tennis player Jelena Dokic was
proclaimed the best female athlete in Yugoslavia this year in the
eighth selection of the Yugoslav Olympic Committee (JOK) at a
ceremony in Belgrade on Sunday.
The best Yugoslav tennis player was 132nd on the ATP list at the
beginning of this year, and she is now eighth-seed with triumphs at
three international tournaments, in Rome, Tokyo and Moscow.
Aleksandar Sostar, the goalkeeper and captain of the Yugoslav
national water polo team, was proclaimed best male athlete. In a
period of 10 months, the goalie and his team won the title of
European champion, the silver medal at the World Championships, and
the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.
The best female national team this year is the handball team
which won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Italy.
The water polo national team, the European champion and silver medallist from the World championships, was proclaimed the best in the male team competition.
