Merano, ITALY, December 16 - Yugoslav women's handball team won bronze medal at the World Championship in Italy after beating the Olympic gold medallist, national team of Denmark 42-40, after extra-time. In the regular time, the two teams scored a 34-34 draw (14-17).
Denmark was leading 24-17 with 20 minutes remaining, but Yugoslavia deservedly took medal at the world championships for the first time in 11 years.
