Jonkoping, SWEDEN, January 25 - Yugoslavia beat Croatia 34-22
(17-10) in the Group D first match of the European Handball
Championships in the Swedish city of Jonkoping late Friday.
The Yugoslavian victory against Croatia was much easier than expected. Goalkeeper Dejan Peric was the key player of the mach with 25 saves.
Within eight minutes, Yugoslavia built up its lead from 9-6 to 13-6. After first half the match was put beyond doubt and Croatia didn't manage even to cut he deficit.
Yugoslavia will play world champion France on Saturday.
