Yugoslavia - Ecuador 0-1

Yugoslavia's Dragoslav Jevric attempts to grab a ball

East Rutherford, USA, May 8 (AP) - Agustin Delgado scored on a rebound in the 69th minute and World Cup-bound Ecuador defeated Yugoslavia 1-0 in a rough exhibition game at Giants Stadium on Wednesday night.

Yugoslavia, which did not qualify for the World Cup, had two players sent off with red cards, while Ecuador had one ejected by referee Rich Grady of the United States.

Grady also handed out four yellow cards in the game, played before a crowd of 36,540 people, most clad in yellow, the color of Ecuador's jersey.

Delgado snapped a scoreless tie by finishing off a great play involving Raul Guerron and Alex Aguinaga with the teams playing with 10 men apiece.

Guerron came down the right wing and centered a pass to the top of the box. Aguinaga hit a hard side volley that forced goalkeeper Dragoslav Jevric to make a diving save. The rebound went to Delgado, and he put the ball into an open net.

Defender Dejan Stefanovic screamed at the assistant referee and got his second yellow card moments after the goal.

Ecuador had most of the scoring chances after that, with Jevric making nice saves on Edison Mendez in the 78th and 81st minutes.

Grady ruled another shot that Ecuador put in the net came seconds after the game ended.

Vladimir Ivic had Yugoslavia's best scoring chances, shooting just wide from in close against goalkeeper Jose Francisco Cevallos in the 57th and 58th minutes.
