Munich, GERMANY, August 27 (AP) - Midfielder Michael Ballack scored one goal and set up another to lead Bayern Munich to a 3-1 victory over Partizan Belgrade on Tuesday and a place in the Champions League.
Bayern, a four-time winner of the competition, took the third-round qualifying tie 6-1 (read report on the first leg match) on aggregate over two legs.
Partizan had most of the early possession but the best chance came for Bayern when Claudio Pizarro's header from close range
was punched out by goalkeeper Radovan Radakovic.
In the 26th minute, Ballack collected a pass from Bixente Lizarazu and drove home unchallenged by the Partizan defense.
Ballack set up Bayern's second goal in the 71st by sending a through ball for Giovane Elber. The Brazilian striker rounded defender Branimir Bajic and easily slotted the ball past Radakovic.
Only one minute later, Danko Lazovic sent a pass to substitute Damir Cakar, who beat Owen Hargreaves to the ball and nudged it
past goalkeeper Oliver Kahn.
Ballack, Germany's Player of the Year, was involved in Bayern's third goal as well, when he was tripped inside the area by Branko
Savic in the 74th minute. Hasan Salihamidzic converted the penalty.
