Partizan joins the Euroleague
Barcelona, September 16 (telebasket.com) - Following the press release from the September 6, the Greek team Iraklis did not fulfill the requirements to register for the Euroleague.
As such, the Euroleague invited Panionios, the fifth-placed finishers of the Greek League, to replace Iraklis. Panionios also failed to comply with the requirements to compete in the competition, at which point the Euroleague invited Partizan, champions of the Yugoslav League last season, who have already confirmed their participation.
With this substitution, the ULEB competitions will reflect the following changes.
- Partizan will occupy Iraklis's spot in the Euroleague Group C calendar.
- BC FMP Zeleznik of Belgrade will be incorporated into Group B of the ULEB Cup and will take the spot of Partizan on the ULEB Cup calendar.
- BC Lugano finally has fulfilled the requirements to compete in the ULEB Cup and has maintained its spot in Group A.
