Belgrade, May 16, 2003 - Kosovo-Metohija Ombudsman Marek Antoni Nowicki said Friday that resolving the destiny of the missing represents one of the most sensitive issues regarding human rights in the province.
Nowicki told the families of missing persons that the Ombudsman cannot influence the search directly, but added that it is in his power to pose the question publicly so as to compel the authorities to address the problem properly, the Beta news agency reported.
Nowicki added that he had arranged a meeting of the Association of the Families of Missing and Kidnapped Persons in Kosovo-Metohija with representatives of all ethnic communities in the province.
The meeting is to be held in Pristina in early June.
