Paris, FRANCE, August 31 - Serbia-Montenegro's Olivera Jevtic won eighth place in the women's marathon race at the 9th IAAF World Championships in Athletics.
Jevtic covered the course in 2 hours, 26 minutes and 49 seconds.

Dokic upset by Pierce at US Open
New York, UNITED STATES, August 28 (AFP) - France's Mary Pierce squandered a second-set match point and lost five of the first six games in the last set before rallying to beat Serbia-Montenegro's Jelena Dokic 6-2, 6-7 (5/7), 7-6 (7/5) at the US Open.
Pierce, 28, blew a match point in the 10th game
of the second set and the 22nd-ranked Serbian
rallied to force a third set.
Dokic, ranked 23rd, won five of the first six
games in the final set and was on the verge of
victory, but never managed a match point against
64th-rated Pierce, who battled back with two
breaks to level at 5-5.
Momentum swung by the moment as the tie-breaker also went to 5-5 before
Pierce swatted a backhand winner to grab her second match point, which
she converted when Dokic sent a forehand long.

Serbia-Montenegro takes fourth place at FINA World League
New York, UNITED STATES, August 25 - Much-weakened national team of Serbia and Montenegro took fourth place at the New York FINA World League Super Final. They lost to United States 9-12 (1-1, 3-5, 4-3, 1-3) in the third place match.
Having beaten Italy 13-8 in the final match, Hungary won gold medal.
Greece defeated Netherlands 8-7 in the fifth place match.
