Serbia deals heavy blow to organised crime, Prime Minister Zivkovic says

Zoran Zivkovic

Kragujevac, Dec 23, 2003 - Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Zivkovic visited Kragujevac on Tuesday where he toured the Zastava Kovacnica forging works and the Zastava Namenska weaponry-making unit of the Zastava car factory, as well as the local construction land fund.

As part of the visit, the Prime Minister said that the government has invested the majority of funds in the Sumadija district, providing state subsidies and soft loans.

According to him, the government was successful over the past three years and has nothing to be embarrassed about.

This year, Serbia reported the best privatisation results, while the government dealt a heavy blow to organised crime, Zivkovic went on to say.

This year will be remembered for the way it begun, the Prime Minister said. "They killed the best among us, Zoran Djindjic, the visionary and the initiator of what we must accomplish to be a successful state," he stressed.
