Parliament speaker names Kostunica prime minister designate

Belgrade, Feb 20, 2004 - Acting Serbian President and Serbian parliament Speaker Dragan Marsicanin named Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Vojislav Kostunica Serbian prime minister designate on Friday.

Kostunica's appointment as prime minister designate came following talks with representatives of all political parties in the parliament, and is in line with Article 83 of the Serbian Constitution, said Marsicanin.

Kostunica has accepted the appointment, said Marsicanin, adding that the parliament is most likely to debate new government make-up next week.
