Belgrade, February 9, 2004 (fiba.com/eurobasket.com) - New head coach of Serbia-Montenegro's national team is Zeljko Obradovic.

Obradovic, who has agreed a two-year contract, was appointed as successor to Dusko Vujosevic and will steer the world champions in the Athens Olympics where they will be serious contenders for the gold medal.

Serbia-Montenegro's Basketball Federation president Miodrag Babic claimed the decision had been taken unanimously by the board and thanked Obradovic's club team Panathinaikos for allowing the move.

"All five members of Executive board voted for Zeljko Obradovic, and that's already a good start," said Babic.

Obradovic was head coach of Yugoslavia from 1996 to 2000. With national team he won gold medals at the 1998 World Championship in Athens and at the 1997 European Championship in Spain, silver medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and bronze medal at the 1999 European Championship in France. Obradovic quit after they only finished sixth in the Olympics in Sydney.

As head coach of European clubs, Obradovic also won five European titles - with Partizan 1992, Joventut 1994, Real Madrid 1995 and with Panathinaikos in 2000 and 2002. He is still head coach of team from Athens.
