    1910

Andra Ristic from Belgrade becomes the first official representative of an automobile firm from Germany -  N.A.G. 

In 1910, the appearance of the sound movie was received with complaining. An owner of the traveling cinema, Leon, presented a sound picture in so-called Gom’s way. The audience hissed him.

In 1910, first Serbian Hawk festival was held. Hawk teams from Czech, Slovakia, Dalmatia, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Macedonia, Kosovo and Bulgaria participated in the festival.

On February 10th 1910, Serbian Olympic Club was found. It got a task to make the establishment of other sport unions and clubs easier. Their task also was to prepare international matches, to help morally and financially the knight unions and support development of the sport in Serbia. The Serbian Olympic Club became in the very same year the Serbian Olympic Committee, as well as it became a member of International Olympic Committee.

On May 2nd 1910, a first Big walking race (marathon) - from Obrenovac to Belgrade, Kosutnjak, was organized by Serbian Olympic Club. The members of the government, court, diplomatic corps, Belgrade garrison, lots of citizens and about 600 guests attended the race from Macedonia. From 97 competitors, Aleksandar Popovic, bookseller from Belgrade won the race.

On November 27th 1910, Belgrade got the first house for cinema. It was a modern cinema house, built by Savic brothers in 3 Kolarceva Street (today Yugo export enterprise). The building was demolished in 1914.

On December 18th 1910 the first successful flights over Belgrade were carried out.  Russian pilot Maslenikov landed successfully “Farman” airplane on runway in Banjica.
 

1911

First commercial airplane was made in workshop of Mihail Marcep. It was sold to the Komits in Belgrade in May 1912.

The first taxi driver in Belgrade was Andra Ristic. As an official representative of automobile firm from Germany (N.A.G.), he took one vehicle in order to establish the first taxi company. The vehicle was marked with taxi plates and was always parked between both “Balkan” and “Moscow” hotels. This was at the same time the first taxi station in town.

In 1911, first Technical directorate was found. It was found as a centralized institution for constructing. The first director of that firm was French Eduard Lege.

In 1911 first swimming marathon was held near the railway bridge on the river of Sava.

 In 1911 the first feature film was shot. It was titled “Karadjordje” and lasted for 90 minutes. It was made by famous Belgrade trader and cinema owner in cooperation with Cira Manak and Cica Ilija Stanojevic (photograph) who was the director and main actor.

On January 9th 1911, first air rally in Belgrade was held. The meeting ended up with tragic consequences for Eduard Rusjan, pilot from Slovenia. While he was flying over Belgrade, a strong wind pushed his airplane and threw him to the fortresses of Belgrade. Eduard Rusjan became the first victim of the aviation in Serbia.
 

1914

In summer 1914, the Austrians started to bomb Belgrade (36 days and nights). This was the first bombardment of an open city in Europe by heavy cannons and howitzers.
 

1915

First Serbian flotilla was formed. This flotilla defended Belgrade successfully from the forces of field marshal Makenzen on 6/7 of October.
 

1919

Opera and ballet were established in scope of National theatre. The first opera play “Madam Butterfly” was performed on February 11th, 1920 in Manjez hall, because the National theatre building was under reconstruction.
