Rome, ITALY, January 10 (agencies) - Yugoslav defender Sinisa Mihajlovic, unhappy at reports that Fiorentina's managing director refused to sign papers related to his engagement, had returned to Lazio.
The 31-year-old international trained with Fiorentina on Wednesday and expected to sign with the club in the afternoon, but club's managing director Luciano Luna vetoed the transfer on the grounds that the club could not take on any new players until their outstanding debts were cleared.
Mihajlovic explained: "When I came to Florence, I said I wouldn't sign anything before Luna did," Mihajlovic said.
"I was promised that everything would be OK. I trained with the
squad, then I was informed that Luna had refused to sign papers
related to my engagement. The problem is that he doesn't want to
take the risk.
"I told them that I would wait until 11 O'clock today [Thursday]. If by
then Luna had not accepted to sign me, I would pack my things and
return to Rome.
"I have been patient enough. I wanted to keep the promise I made
to Mancini, but the difficulties at Fiorentina aren't my problem."
