Alba Berlin signs Jovo Stanojevic

Berlin, GERMANY, August 1 (AP) - German champion Alba Berlin has signed center Jovo Stanojevic, the Most Valuable Player of the Yugoslav basketball league last season, the club said Thursday.

Stanojevic, 24, signed a two-year contract. He replaced another Yugoslav center, Dejan Koturovic, whose financial demands were not accepted by the six-time German champion.

"We've been watching Jovo for three years now. He's developed into one of the top European players," said Alba vice president Marco Baldi.

The 2.07-meter center averaged 16.4 points for Partizan Belgrade in the Euroleague last season.
