Kings take revenge on Lakers, Stojakovic scores 26 points

Stojakovic goes up for a shot over Rick Fox (Lakers)

Los Angeles, USA, December 25 (AP) - The Sacramento Kings are the new rulers of California - at least for now.

Peja Stojakovic equaled a season high with 26 points, and Chris Webber had 25 points, 15 rebounds and six assists as the Kings beat the slumping three-time defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers 105-99 (24-24, 25-29, 28-21, 28-25) Wednesday night.

The stumbling Lakers (11-19) have lost four of five and are 8-10 since O'Neal returned after missing the season's first 12 games while recuperating from surgery on his right big toe.

O'Neal had 27 points, a season-high 17 rebounds and five assists, but shot just 8-of-19 and made 2-of-8 after halftime - both after the outcome had been decided.

Kobe Bryant also had 27 points for the Lakers along with 15 rebounds and six assists, but he made only 7 of 24 shots and went 2-for-12 in the second half.

The Lakers outrebounded the Kings 61-42, but shot 36.7 percent to 46.3 percent for the Kings.

The game was the first that counted between the rivals since the Lakers beat the Kings in the Western Conference finals last June, winning the seventh and deciding game in overtime at Arco Arena.

Rebraca leaves game with irregular heartbeat

New Jersey, USA, December 21 (AP) - An irregular heartbeat forced Detroit backup center Zeljko Rebraca to leave the Pistons' game with the New Jersey Nets.

Rebraca entered Saturday night's game late in the first quarter and made a shot to start the second. He walked off the court 8:34 before halftime.

He is the second Detroit athlete to leave a game because of an irregular heartbeat in the last week. In the National Football League, Lions quarterback Joey Harrington left his team's game against Tampa Bay on Sunday with a rapid heartbeat. He underwent a procedure to correct the ailment.

The Pistons announced at halftime that Rebraca, a second-year player from Yugoslavia, was feeling lightheaded and would not return. The news of the irregular heartbeat came after the game ended.

"I knew he left in the second period because I didn't see him, but I didn't know what was the matter," Pistons guard Jon Barry said. "Hopefully, everything is all right."

After the 100-92 loss, coach Rick Carlisle said Rebraca would probably be held overnight for evaluation at a hospital.

"That's all I know," Carlisle said. "Of course you are always concerned when it has something to do with a heart problem. We won't know anything till tests are done."

Rebraca is averaging 6.5 points and 3.0 rebounds.
